Travis Weld kills a former Russian KGB officer smuggling two suitcase-size nuclear bombs into the United States. But one bomb has already been delivered. Who has it and how do they plan to use it? Weld again recruits Chesney Barrett to pursue the one clue to the bomb owner’s identity. Chesney’s search leads her to the Global Alliance of Environmentalists (GALE), currently protesting against expansion of Titan Petroleum’s refinery north of New Orleans. But surely GALE’s charismatic leader Stuart Kramer would never detonate a nuclear bomb. Then eco-radical Brian Forsyth joins the protests. He probably owns the bomb. As the confrontation with Titan Petroleum escalates, Chesney must decide whether to tell Kramer about her suspicions of Forsyth. If Kramer already knows, she’ll be killed. If she doesn’t warn him, Forsyth will use GALE as a cover for exploding the bomb. And the impatient Weld is preparing a desperate ploy that may get both of them killed.
